Home Remedies for Pink Eyes

Homeopathy:

Some homeopathic home remedies designed to treat conjunctivitis include Pulsatilla, Belladonna and eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis). Homeopathic eye drops and eye washes can be made from eyebright or chamomile ( Matricaria recutita).

Prepare a poultice of grated raw but red potato or grated apple and put it on your closed infected eyes for ½ an hour. And you would find favorable results within 2-3 days.

Try two minutes of shut-eye. If you use over-the-counter eye drops to soothe the itch, keep your eyes shut for at least two minutes after applying the drops, suggests Major William White, M.D., oculoplastic surgeon at Brook Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. That's because when your eyes remain open, you blink--and blinking can wash away medication. But use eyedrops sparingly: Using them for more than three days can be counterproductive and can actually induce redness.

Home remedies for pink eyes: Use Fennel. This plant although used in the kitchen for salads is also a very good herb for vision problems. When snakes shed their skin they are temporarily blinded and eat fennel to restore their sight. It can be eaten raw or made as a tea and the tea can be used as an eyewash.

Eyebright plant is highly effective in treating pink eyes. To 1 tablespoon of boiled water add 3-4 drops of eyebright tincture. When sufficiently cool you can bathe your eyes with this mixture.

Vegetable juices have proved beneficial in treating conjunctivitis. Take about 200 ml of spinach juice and add 300 ml of carrot juice to it. Consume this mixed juice everyday and see its wonderful effects.

Sea Salt -- Put a teaspoon of sea salt in one cup warm water and stir until dissolved. You can use an eye dropper and put two to three drops of the saline solution you have created directly into your eye or you can use a cotton ball. Saturate the cotton ball and place it on your eye allowing the water to run into your eye. This is a tried and true remedy that has been used for many years and is still a staple in England.

On the other hand, another home remedy for pink eye may need the use of a few pinches of coffee boiled in small amount of water. Drop some of this solution on your infected eye. Allow the coffee mixture to glide don through your eyeball. You may experience some dryness on your eye tissue this is normal. After a few minutes, rinse your ayes with tap water then add considerable amount of eye drops.

Jasmine flowers:

Distilled water in which jasmine flowers had been soaked overnight used as eye drops will work like a charm for pink eye, especially for the eye having yellow discharge.

Vitamins A and B2 have proved useful in conjunctivitis. The patient should take liberal quantities of natural foods rich in these two vitamins. Foods rich in vitamin A are wholemilk, curds, butter, carrots, pumpkin, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, mangoes, and papaya. Foods rich in vitamin B2 are green leafy vegetables, milk, almonds, citrus fruits, bananas, and tomatoes. These are the most popular home remedies for pink eyes.
